Tying Up Loose Ends - Handwoven Wallhangers

An ApiHappi Creation by Aparna Samarakoon

At ApiHappi, we’ve always loved beginnings—starting with scraps, chasing wild ideas, diving into color. But what about endings? What about the quiet, slow, oddly satisfying work of completing something?

This collection, Tying Up Loose Ends, is just that: a soft, tangled exhale.

Aparna has started weaving together leftover bits of beanbag offcut fabric—frayed edges, odd shapes, forgotten corners. These are the pieces that don’t usually make the cut. But instead of throwing them away, she’s weaving them into large, raw, textured wall hangers. They’re not perfect. But maybe that’s the point.

In a world (and a mind) full of unfinished tasks, unanswered emails, paused projects, and someday-dreams, this act of weaving becomes a small miracle. A small rebellion. A way of saying, “This didn’t have to go anywhere... but I’m giving it an ending anyway.”

These wall hangers are tactile reminders to pause and tie up something—anything—that’s been left hanging. A promise made to yourself. A creative project gathering dust. A difficult conversation. A thread in your business or your heart that’s been left dangling.

Tying Up Loose Ends is about honoring what we usually overlook. It’s about letting the mess be beautiful. It’s about finishing—not for perfection, not even for closure—but simply because we can.

And maybe, that’s enough.

Our strategy is to use batch one as way for Aparna to build her confidence in weaving and grow as an artist. It will also give us a chance to properly photograph the process as well as the finished products. After batch one we plan on making the wall hangers available publicly to a slightly larger audience in the form of an exhibition or features in various venues.

Sample:
Currently we have two samples that have been made. One is in our workshop and one is in our house. So far we've noticed they bring a massive splash of colour to a room. They also have interesting effects with different forms of lighting as seen below.
